As you may know, Evgeny Kuznetsov has landed stateside and brings with him a sigh of relief for many Capitals fans. For a hand full of years now, he has been holding on to coming to DC over the heads of those hoping the best for the next generation of Capitals players to hopefully steer the team past an early playoff exit. To no avail, he decided it was best to continue to play in the KHL until the time was right. With his team not making the playoffs and a new chapter waiting to be opened in DC, Kuznetsov made the decision earlier this past week to finally fly to the US of A.
Our first impressions when Kuznetsov stepped foot on the ice at 8:00 AM EST were that of skepticism in that here’s another forward that may or may not pan out. Time will tell but with the first session under his belt, we were impressed. From taking one timers that clocked in we’d guess in the 100 MPH range to heading straight to the media gate to sign autographs, this guy has grown up while playing in the KHL.
